Nepal - Treks

Rolwaling Trekking

“BEYUL” – TSO ROLPA – DUDH KUNDA

Description

Rolwaling is getting more popular due to being the closest distance from the Kathmandu valley. You can reach incredibly close to the Himalayas in just a 3 day period.

Firstly, we drive to Dhulikhel, Dolalghat by the river bed of Indrawati River and Sunkoshi River towards Nepal-Tibet’s ``Friendship Highway – Kodari ". Afterwards, we will change our route to Jiri highway until Charikot then switch to Dongar Khola to Chetchet at 1317m towards Simigaon.

The trek goes below the Rolwaling Himalayan range and its culturally diverse land. You will view many hairpin bends with stunning landscapes of Dorje Lhakpa (6975m), Gauri Shanker (7134m), Langtang, Melung Tse (7033m), Choba Bamara (5933m), Numbur Chuli (6959m), Big Phere Go, Pathibhara and many other peaks. It passes through water falls, rivers, narrow gorges, ridge walks as well as up and down steep hillsides with rocky stair steps. We trek inside “Gaurishanker National Park'' where you will encounter wild animals like mountain goats, snow leopards, red pandas and various kinds of flowers including our national rhododendron, juniper, etc, as we delve into deep forest areas.

Additionally, herbs and wild plants can be seen depending on the season.

Simigaon, Beding and Na are examples of big Sherpa villages. You can experience the daily activities of a local Sherpa living in higher land.

Beding is somewhere worth spending one more day acclimatizing. You  may complete a hike to Manlung la. As well as get a chance to visit Nepal’s first cheese factory, established in 1957 and the famous Thodung Monastery on the way. You can also view Tso Rolpa (4580m) which is a glacier melt lake recently naturally created. It changes its colour depending on the season.

During the months of April to May, rhododendrons and wild flowers bloom in abundance. There is a massive chance to see Dafe, the national bird of Nepal and Himalayan Tahr (goat), a species of goat antelope and many other animals. If lucky, you can catch a glimpse of the elusive snow leopard.

Many villages populated by Tamang and Sherpa people can be observed with their unique lifestyles. Religious symbols and structures like Mani prayers carved on rock slates can be seen. Sherpa houses are noticeable with their colorful flags and herds of cattle and their potato fields are found at higher altitudes.
