
| About Nepal: NEPAL Expendition Information Eight of the world's ten highest mountain are in Nepal: Everest, Kanchanjunga, Lhotse, Makalu, Cho-Oyu, Dhaulagiri, Manaslu and Annapurna I. All together 104 peaks have been classified as expedition peaks. An expedition peak permit for a specified route will be issued after the payment of set fees by our government. We at Sherpa Society specialize in mountaineering expeditions to major peaks in Nepal and Tibet Himalaya. In the past decade we have successfully organised more than 30 expeditions and numerous minor ones. We provide a full service including permits, high altitude porters and sherpas, import custom formalities, rescue and evacuation flights, hotel reservation etc. On our fully organised expeditions, services included are: food and equipment up to base camp and back, high altitude sherpas, cooking crew, high altitude porters with all climbing gear, Peak permit, airfare - chartered flights for equipment, National Park entrance fee, staffs insurance premium, six nights in a tourist class hotel in Kathmandu. High altitude equipment including technical climbing gear, high altitude food and high altitude sherpa bonus and international airfare/freight are extra. Our trans-himalayan expeditions (Nepal, Tibet) are staffed by sherpa crew and equipment from Nepal but we have to operate through a Chinese organisation as a rule. Besides major expeditions, we run trekking combined with climbing (5,000 - 6,000m) peaks enroute. These involve setting up a base camp and occasionally one or two high camps. No extensive planning and preparation is required for this, aside from bringing your basic climbing gear.
