The Kingdom of Bhutan "DRUK YUL (Land of the Dragon) remains hidden in the Eastern Himalayas between India and Tibet and is approximately the size of Switzerland but sparsely populated . (pop. barely 1 million).

The mountains are magnificent, the forests dense, the people delightful, the air pure and crystalline, the architecture imposing, religion exciting, and the art superb. There are no beggars and no thieves, virtually no violent crimes, and a traveler's personal safety is guaranteed. Public relations hype you may be thinking; brochures always inflate their subject, but the surprising fact is that it's all true. For the occasional visitor, Bhutan is truly Shangrila,  a mythical country hidden deep in the mountains.

Visitors enter Bhutan via beautiful valley, Paro by the National Airlines, Druk Air. Optional route by via Nepal border Kakervitta or Indian hill station Darjeeling, Kalingpong and Sikkim to West Bengal, Indian state via a bus/rail  or flight via Bagdora to Jaigaon or Phuntsoling to enter Bhutan.
 
Best time to visit : March, April, May and September, October, November.
 
Places of Interest : Paro, Thimphu, Punakha, Wangdiphodrang, Trongsa, Bhumthang, Mongar & Lhuentse. All the tour and treks are organised through THE BHUTAN TOURISM CORPORATION. All modes of transport wihtin Bhutan is by motor vehicles as there are no domestic airlines or trains. However motor roads are well maintained and link all parts of the nation. The mountainous terrain and winding roads restrict the average driving speed of vehicles to less then 40km. per hour.
